Chocolate Orange Cake
Turn everyone’s favourite Terry’s chocolate orange into a cake.

Ingredients
For the cake:
- 180 g Softened butter
- 180 g Golden caster sugar
- 3 Eggs large
- 140 g Self-raising flour
- 40 g Cocoa powder
- 60 ml Milk
- 125 g Mini chocolate orange segments
For the topping:
- 200 g Terry’s chocolate orange use 2 whole chocolate oranges, any remaining can be used as garnish
- 300 ml Double cream
- 180 g Cream cheese
- 1 Orange optional
Instructions
For the sponge:
- Preheat the oven to 180C. Grease and line a 20cm square baking tin with baking paper.
- Add the softened butter and golden caster sugar into a large mixing bowl. Beat for a few minutes until it’s creamy.
- Add in the eggs, self-raising flour, cocoa powder, and milk. Beat until it’s well combined.
- Add the mini chocolate orange segments and fold them through.
- Pour the batter into the baking tray and spread it evenly into the edges.
- Bake it for 30 minutes, or until a skewer comes out clean.
- Leave it to cool in the tin for about ten minutes, then transfer it to a cooling rack to cool completely.
For the Topping:
- Chop the chocolate orange into smaller chunks and place them into a mixing bowl.
- Pour the cream into a saucepan and bring it almost to the boil.
- Pour the hot cream over the chocolate and whisk until it’s smooth. Leave it to cool slightly before beating in the cream cheese.
- Pop it into the fridge for ten minutes or so until it becomes spreadable.
- Spread it liberally over the cake, then garnish with any remaining chocolate orange segments. Zest over an orange if you like, then enjoy.
