Classic Apple Crumble

Ingredients
For the filling:
- 5 Large bramley apples
- 150 g Golden caster sugar
- 2 tsps Cinnamon
For the crumble:
- 240 g Plain flour
- 150 g Golden caster sugar
- 160 g Butter
For the topping:
- 1 tbsp Oats
- 1 tbsp Demerara sugar
Instructions
- Heat the oven to 175℃
- Peel and core the apples, cut into 1 cm wide chunks.. Toss in a bowl with the golden caster sugar and cinnamon.
- Place the apples into an oven dish.
- Flatten the apples down as much as possible to prevent the crumble mix falling though.
- For the crumble, use the 'rubbing in' method to rub together the flour, butter and golden caster sugar until it resembles chunky breadcrumbs.
- Pour the crumb mix over the apples, press down slightly with a fork.
- Sprinkle with the rolled oats and the demerara sugar.
- Bake in the oven for one hour.
- Leave to rest for 10 minutes before serving.
- Serve with ice cream or thick cream. Goes well with my Vodka + vanilla ice cream.
