  • 5 Large bramley apples
  • 150 g Golden caster sugar
  • 2 tsps Cinnamon
For the crumble:
  • 240 g Plain flour
  • 150 g Golden caster sugar
  • 160 g Butter
For the topping:
  • 1 tbsp Oats
  • 1 tbsp Demerara sugar

Instructions

  • Heat the oven to 175℃
  • Peel and core the apples, cut into 1 cm wide chunks.. Toss in a bowl with the golden caster sugar and cinnamon.
  • Place the apples into an oven dish.
  • Flatten the apples down as much as possible to prevent the crumble mix falling though.
  • For the crumble, use the 'rubbing in' method to rub together the flour, butter and golden caster sugar until it resembles chunky breadcrumbs.
  • Pour the crumb mix over the apples, press down slightly with a fork.
  • Sprinkle with the rolled oats and the demerara sugar.
  • Bake in the oven for one hour.
  • Leave to rest for 10 minutes before serving.
  • Serve with ice cream or thick cream. Goes well with my Vodka + vanilla ice cream.
