Ingredients

  • 400 g Minced beef
  • 250 g Minced pork
  • 1 Onion diced
  • 4 Cloves of garlic chopped
  • 15 g Ginger chopped
  • 1 Red Chilli sliced
  • 1 tbsp Soft brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp Mirin
  • 2 tbsp Sweet chilli sauce
  • 1 tbsp Sesame oil
  • 80 g Romaine lettuce shredded
  • 100 g Spring onions sliced

Instructions

  • Heat a little oil in a large frying pan over a high heat. Add the minced beef and minced pork. Use a wooden spoon or spatula to break it up as much as possible.
  • Cook the mince until it’s browned all over. Keep cooking it over a high heat, stirring occasionally until the meat starts to caramelise and there is no more liquid left.
  • Remove it from the pan and set aside. Wipe the plan clean with a bit of paper towel.
  • Heat a little oil over a medium to high heat. Add the diced onion and cook for a few minutes until it starts to soften.
  • Add the garlic, ginger and chilli and cook for about 30 seconds before adding the sugar. Cook for another minute.
  • Now get the minced meat back into the pan and stir well.
  • Pour in the soy sauce, mirin, sweet chilli sauce and sesame oil.
  • Cook for a minute, then turn off the heat and add the shredded lettuce and spring onion. Stir it through then dish it up with rice or noodles.
