Ingredients

  • 300 g thin cut sirloin
  • 2 tbsps corn flour
  • 1 tbsp chinese five spice
  • 1 large red pepper sliced
  • 1 bunch of spring onion sliced
  • 1 handful of bean sprouts
  • 2 tsp Ginger paste
  • 2 tsp Garlic paste
  • 1 red chilli sliced
For the sauce:
  • 3 tbsps Rice wine vinegar
  • 2 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 2 tbsps Tomato ketchup
  • 2 tbsps Sweet chilli sauce

Instructions

  • Cut the sirloin into thin strips. Place in a bowl and then add the corn flour and Chinese five spice. Mix to completely coat the beef.
  • Heat a good amount of cooking oil in a frying pan or a wok, add the beef and fry over a high heat until it’s really crispy.
  • Take out the beef and place it onto kitchen paper to soak up any excess oil.
  • In a clean pan, stir fry the red pepper, sliced chilli, spring onions, beansprouts, garlic and ginger for 2-3 minutes.
  • Pour in the sauce ingredients and bring it to the boil, cook for 2 minutes until it looks sticky.
  • Add the beef back into the pan and coat in the sticky sauce.
  • Serve the crispy chilli beef with rice or noodles and finish by sprinkling over some sliced spring onions and chilli.
