Preheat the oven to 170C (fan).
Melt the butter in a saucepan over a medium heat.
In a large mixing bowl add the soft brown sugar and granulated sugar. Pour in the melted butter and whisk until it’s well combined.
Add the egg and beat it in, then add the plain flour, cocoa powder, bicarbonate of soda, and baking powder and fold it through.
Chuck in the chocolate chips and mix them through.
Use your hands to roll the dough into balls, then flatten them slightly into rough cookie shapes.
Place them onto lined baking trays, spaced apart to allow for spreading.
Bake them for 13-15 minutes, then take them out and allow to cool slightly before transferring them to a cooling rack to cool completely. Enjoy!
